We’re excited to host a special networking event, Have Your Cake and Eat It Too, right here at Cambridge Court on Tuesday, February 20th, from 4:00-6:00PM. In addition to enjoying some sweet treats (which everyone deserves in the middle of winter), visitors will have the chance to meet and mingle with our senior care professionals, including our Executive Director Cheryl White and our Health Services Director, Kim Roethemeyer.
We hope you’ll join us and find out more about our mission of inspired service—and what we’re doing to make an impact on our residents, their families, and the community we serve. Here’s a little bit about Kim, and what she enjoys most about our senior living community.
Kim Roethemeyer graduated from nursing school while raising three teenagers and a college student.
She went on to work in all areas of a hospital before becoming a dementia practitioner and coming to Cambridge Court, where she now serves as Health Services Director. She came here in order to use “all of my talents and knowledge in an organization,” and stays because of our organization’s dedication to “inspired service.”
“I care for each resident as though they were my parents,” Kim says. “Residents and families trust me with the care of their loved ones.”
Kim shares one of her favorite memories at Cambridge Court: “I do an exercise group on Tuesday mornings with the residents and then a memory game with them. I usually try to ask questions that center around a holiday that is approaching. At Thanksgiving I asked what each one was thankful for. Many answered ‘Cambridge Court,’ and for us taking care of them.”
Along with treating residents like family, Kim also cares for her staff. “I am passionate about directing them to give the best quality of care and dignity to the resident.”
For anyone researching assisted living communities, Kim advises looking at how the community values autonomy. “Residents have the right to as much independence as they’re capable.”

She shared that her favorite dessert is lemon meringue pie. “We would go to the Straamann Steam Engine Show in Wilcox, Neb., with my family, when I was very little. It was a carnival type of atmosphere with lots of relatives and fun. There would be homemade lemon meringue pie there. I thought it was only at certain events, because my mom never made them. As I got older I learned you could actually make or buy them!”
